Description

**Cubitt takes over Cafe OTO for a cèilidh, a social evening and cultural celebration common in Gaelic cultures, raising funds towards Cubitt’s move.**

Founded by artists in 1991, Cubitt is one of London’s oldest artist-run cooperatives. For 35 years, it has supported artistic experimentation through affordable studios, a non-profit gallery and education programmes across Islington.

After 25 years at Angel Mews, Cubitt is working to secure a new permanent home and continue supporting experimental artistic and curatorial practice in London.

Following the success of Cubitt’s previous Cèilidh, this second edition comes to Cafe OTO. At the centre of the evening will be live music and dancing from a one-night-only Cèilidh band assembled by friends and members of Shovel Dance Collective, with the full line-up announced shortly.

Cubitt staff, artists and supporters will also contribute poetry readings, a fundraising raffle and DJ sets. Dress is informal, although kilts are warmly encouraged. Cubitt Director of Programmes Seán Elder will be fear an taighe, master of ceremonies, and caller for the dancers.

Tickets are available across a range of tiers. Those who can are encouraged to choose a supporter or pay-it-forward ticket, helping fund Cubitt’s move while keeping lower-cost tickets available to others.

Every ticket, raffle entry and contribution will help Cubitt take its next step towards a new home.
