Seasoning ✶ Peverelist + Pinch, YouYou and Q+A: Aftershock: The Seismic Impact of Dubstep with Lauren Martin

Seasoning presents a rare extended set from Peverelist and Pinch, bringing two of Bristol’s defining musical voices together on The Old Blue Last soundsystem.

For more than twenty years, their work has helped shape the movement of UK soundsystem music through dubstep, dub techno, post-dubstep, broken techno and the rhythmic territory beyond. Their paths emerged from the same city and period, but developed through distinct sensibilities.

Seasoning family YouYou opens the room, setting the foundations for the night through bass, electro, techno and exploratory club music.

Before the dance begins, music journalist Lauren Martin will host a discussion and audience Q&A around her new book, Aftershock: The Seismic Impact of Dubstep. Built from extensive original interviews, the book traces the people, places and relationships through which dubstep developed. The conversation begins at 9pm, offering a deeper context for the music that follows without turning the night into a retrospective.

This is a chance to hear two artists who helped build the foundations of Bristol’s soundsystem culture play with the freedom and duration their music deserves, inside one of London’s most intimate rooms.
