Kefaya and Elaha Soroor

Progression. Convergence. Breaking boundaries never sounded better.

Kefaya & Elaha Soroor are an award-winning, boundary breaking collective described by The Guardian as "one of the most intriguing new bands of the year". Their music is a powerful synthesis of cultures, voices, genres and rhythms, where Afghan folk meets psychedelic jazz rock.

Their 2019 album Songs of Our Mothers reimagined songs composed and performed by Afghan women. It won the Songlines Fusion Award and received coverage on BBC Radio 3, BBC 6 Music. And it sparked the creation of their label Radio International; through this they support radical and forward-thinking music.

Their upcoming album Our Freedoms Must Be Won (2026) pushes further into synth rock, post punk, and jazz psychedelia while keeping subtle influences from Afghan folk traditions. Developed through live improvisation and experimentation, it features Farsi poetries addressing themes of exile and resistance.
