Chintan Upadhyay

Chintan Upadhyay : Chintan was born in the family of artists and started his learning at a tender age from his parents and Gurus in his home town in Gujarat, India. He did his Master Degree in Music from Pune University and was honoured Junior Research Fellowship from Government of India for Dhrupad studies. He surrendered his heart towards the traditional way of learning Dhrupad from his master (Guru) Pt. Uday Bhawalkar. He is the creative director at Alembic Dhrupad Foundation where he teaches this rare artform. He has been performing in Canada, USA, Germany, UK, Vienna since past few years and this year he is touring to France , Germany and Paris for his events further after UK.

A Dhrupad concert: One of the ancient artform which has always been a very powerful tool for inner journey through traditional sounds handed down in an oral tradition.

There are two major parts in the presentation of this form. First is the Alap (the abstract elaboration through sound syllables which is a sort of invocation to the abstract ..

Second part is the composition which is a poetry part having a lyrical structure set to a particular rhythm cycle.
