When Community Talks with Dr Joy White

Join Dr Joy White for an evening of learning, connection and exploration through When Community Talks, an interactive lecture and social discussing themes of belonging and community through the lens of music, with a focus on contemporary Black British genres.

Using Newham as a case study Terraformed: Culture, Place & Lived Experience will look at the emergence of grime as we explore questions of who can create, where can creativity happen and how is it sustained when gentrification, austerity and cost of living threaten the same places where creative and cultural foundations were built?
