Bees and Refugees at the Museum

On Sunday 13th of September, we are happy to announce that we’re hosting our friends at Bees and Refugees to the museum. Join us for a documentary film screening, an informal chat about bees, (with tea), and a performance from local musicians.

If you’ve not heard of Bees and Refugees, they are an environmental and social justice organization dedicated to promoting beekeeping as a craft, connecting communities, restoring native bees, and delivering impact. Which, if you’re on this mailing list, are things we’re pretty sure you’ll be into.

The evening begins with Edge Detection Algorhythm, a short film by BeeingTogether, shot at Bees and Refugees, followed by Making a Chula at Bees and Refugees, a 20-minute documentary by Ben Crawford.

The film vividly charts the process of laying the foundations and constructing an ambitious stove and benches from cob, made with Rescued Clay and Roo Dhissou.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Ali Alzein, ending with an audiovisual improvisation featuring Margate-based musicians and video sequences from Beeing Together.
