This event is proud to be part of Playable Worlds, a series of youth and community-led gaming events led by Spark! - a growing youth voice movement of young people aged 16–25 leading arts and culture across the City, which is part of Culture Chelmsford. Playable Worlds forms a part of the wider Chelmsford Science Festival 2026 hosted by Anglia Ruskin University, linking hands-on play with imagination, science, technology, and community.

Join us for a full day of FREE gaming fun for all ages! Whether you’re a seasoned gamer, a complete beginner, or just looking for something fun to do with friends and family, there’s something for everyone.

🎮 CONSOLE GAMING — The Only Way Is Melee

Travel through the generations of gaming with NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii and Nintendo Switch! Two Melee experts will be on hand to introduce the games, share tips and help you discover a new favourite. Most consoles will be connected to classic box TVs for the ultimate retro experience. Everything is provided — just turn up and play!

🁢 DOMINOES — Roots Chelmsford

Learn and play this classic Caribbean game with experienced dominoes players. Come with a partner if you can, or come alone — we’ll have players available to team up with. Equipment is provided, and all ages are welcome!

♟️ CHESS — Chelmsford Chess Club

Fancy learning chess or improving your skills? Members of Chelmsford Chess Club will be on hand to teach beginners of all ages and help you enjoy this timeless classic.
