The London-based crew — whose name is derived from the French word “coterie,” a small
group of people with shared interests or tastes, especially one that is exclusive — makes
music that feels good. Their moniker is apt, as the three founding members Abdallah Diab,
Dinar, and Jordan Spiro all come from varying backgrounds but have found brotherhood and community in their love for creating and sharing music.
During the creation of the forthcoming debut EP that began taking shape during the
pandemic lock downs and was recorded in Egypt and London, the band gravitated toward
the samples that turn hip-hop songs into classics — the sticky groove behind the bars.
Heaven Is A Lonely Place is fleeting but full of feeling, combining the pulsing funk of the
Neptunes, the head-nodding brevity of J Dilla, and the cinematics of Kevin Parker.
