The folk custodian of the native songs of the British Isles, leading voice in the environmental movement, and creator of the hugely successful *Singing with Nightingales*, Sam Lee has become, over the course of four critically acclaimed albums, a chronicler and artistic spokesperson for the natural world.
Nominated for the Mercury prize, his commitment to both the indigenous song culture of the UK and Ireland via his song collecting work with Gypsy Traveller communities and through his writing and experience-making – bringing people into enchanted encounters with the natural world – is unique, heartfelt and deeply rooted.
His latest album *Songdreaming*, awarded 5 stars by the Guardian, is infused with various ideas of what loves songs for the natural world might sound like in this fractious and uncertain time we live in. In this special concert, Sam and the full band will also be in collaboration with the Fire Choir which Sam founded back in 2016.
‘I wanted to sing a vision of what a conversation between us and the land could be, to restore and inspire a practice of songful immersion in nature that could bring healing. Something we need now more than ever.’ Sam Lee on *Songdreaming,* 2024.
*This performance will last approximately 2 hours, including an interval.*
Presented by Kings Place.
