A RARE SCREENING OF DAVID LYNCH LOST MINI SERIES 'HOTEL ROOM'
The mini-series remains an overlooked work in the auteur’s illustrious cannon, overshadowed by the acclaimed Twin Peaks and his other film work. On paper, Hotel Room should have been as much of a success as these projects – an HBO-produced anthology series with episodes written by Barry Gifford (author of Wild At Heart), directed by Lynch himself, and also featuring music by the late, great Angelo Badalamenti.
Unfortunately, the show never really clicked with audiences, and after an early cancellation and years of gathering dust.
This lost anthology invites viewers into Room 603 of a nondescript New York hotel, where time shifts and the line between reality and illusion blurs. Each of the three episodes is set in a different era—1969, 1992, and 1936—exploring the mysteries, tragedies, and secrets that unfold within the same four walls.
Blending Lynch’s signature dreamlike aesthetic with poignant storytelling, Hotel Room is a deeply introspective exploration of human connection, loneliness, and the passage of time. From moments of heartbreak to eerie encounters, the series delivers the director’s trademark blend of unsettling tension and haunting beauty.
