To Make People Happy by John Osborne

To Make People Happy is the new show by writer and theatre maker John Osborne (Sky 1’s After Hours, John Peel’s Shed) with poems from his new poetry collection, published by Mariscat Press in January 2025. To Make People Happy explores the humour section of second hand book shops, jokes overheard on market stalls and finding the positives in life, even if that means finding friendship with your end-of-life carers and sharing a love of Chas and Dave with a taxi driver after the world’s least appealing wedding.

John Osborne’s poems have been longlisted in the Forward Prize, published in The Big Issue, Rialto and The Guardian and broadcast on BBC Radio 1, Radio 3, Radio 4, 6Music, Soho Radio and XFM. His sold out show Norwich: A Love Story appeared at the Playhouse in 2024.
