Singer-songwriter Bayir’s music is a mixture of original compositions and folk songs of Anatolian heritage. Drawing from her Kurdish Anatolian roots, she sings songs of her past with a contemporary twist, reflecting her multicultural and multilingual background.
Recipient of 2021 Help Musicians UK, 2020 Arts Council England, and 2017 Women Make Music funding award from Performing Rights Society for Music Foundation UK, British-Kurdish, Anatolian singer-songwriter Olcay Bayir’s music is a blend of her original compositions and tunes rooted in Anatolian music heritage, reflecting her complex history. Infusing Anatolian sounds with cosmopolitan London attitude and her Kurdish Alevi soul, Olcay’s music resonates with themes of survival, exile, love, and longing.
Her third, new album Tu Gul î was released in May 2024 by ARC music.
