Description

Chris Goss and Masters of Reality have built a mysterious legacy, amassing a devoted cult following and critical acclaim despite limited mainstream recognition. LA Weekly calls them "the best hard rock band around today," with a sound blending Black Sabbath's heaviness and Beatles-like harmonies.

Their 1988 debut album, Masters of Reality (aka The Blue Garden), produced by Rick Rubin, marked a strong entry into hard rock. 1994’s Sunrise on the Sufferbus, featuring ex-Cream drummer Ginger Baker, charted the single "She Got Me (When She Got Her Dress On)." How High the Moon... Live at the Viper Room (1997) showcased the band’s live energy, with a memorable guest appearance by Scott Weiland.

Chris Goss, the band's frontman, has also been influential as a producer, shaping Kyuss's desert rock sound and working with artists like Scott Weiland, Josh Homme, and Russell Crowe. The 1999 album Welcome to the Western Lodge revealed a more experimental side, and 2001’s Deep in the Hole brought back the bluesy stoner rock of their early work with contributions from Josh Homme, Mark Lanegan, and others.
