The 2025 Dough Boys Chess Invitational

This Easter Monday, Belgrave becomes a battlefield of brains and brie for the inaugural Dough Boys Chess Invitational — a wildly unserious celebration of pawns, pizza, and pints. Boards are free to play all day, with 20-minute games and absolutely no pressure (except the crushing weight of your opponent’s stare).

The main event? Beat The Dough Boy — take on a member of the Dough Boys staff in a game of speed chess. Win, and you’ll be rewarded with two slices of pizza. Lose, and two pints of Amstel are added to the staff tab. We’re also serving up a special for the occasion: The Queen Brie Gambit — sacrificing grapes for extra brie in the name of luxury. Just turn up, get your name down, and let the games begin.
