Structuring and writing a full length comedy show with Dec Munro

This course is for anyone who has a minimum of 3 plus (quite possibly significantly more) years of stand up experience and is looking at taking an hour long show to the Edinburgh Fringe or another Fringe or on tour.

We’ll look at ways to structure your show with a series of concrete examples and workshopping /developing our own shows with the idea of retrofitting structure onto existing/current shows and thinking about how to build it into new work.

Dec has directed multiple award winning and nominated stand up shows including shows by Mawaan Rizwan, Lara Ricote, Stuart Goldsmith, Sofie Hagen, Angela Barnes, Henry Rowley, Kuan-Wen Huang, Ellie Taylor, Michael Akadiri, Andrew Hunter Murray, Kate Cheka, Sukh Ojla, Zach Zimmerman and Alasdair Beckett-King amongst others and given Outside Eyes (show notes) to acts including Viggo Venn, Grace Campbell, Jordan Brookes, Alexandra Haddow, Tatty Macleod, Kemah Bob, Jonny Pelham, Gauri B, Shenoah Allen, Avital Ash, Ted Hill, Mark Bittlestone, Marjolein Robertson, Graham Dickson, Fiona Ridgewell, John Meagher, James Barr, Benji Waterhouse, Steve Bugeja, Chloe Radcliffe, Jacob Hawley, Joshua Bethania, Sikisa, Alex Kealy, Abby Wambaugh (and many more also brilliant people)

He was also the dramaturg for the Victoria Wood Prize – the world’s largest prize for comedic playwriting and was described as a “genius teacher” (of comedy) by The Times. A fact he’ll bring up directly after he says something very stupid
