His Lordship exploded onto the rock ‘n’ roll scene with their raw 2024 self-titled debut—and just over a year later, they're back with Bored Animal, a ferocious follow-up packed with scorching riffs, wild rhythms, and zero frills. Guitarist/vocalist James Walbourne and drummer Kris Sonne tear through punk, noise rock, and garage-blues across a tight, fiery set of tracks, including the lead single “I Fly Planes Into Hurricanes” and the psychedelic “Derek E. Fudge.”
Mixed by David Wrench, the album captures lightning-in-a-bottle energy: short songs, stripped-down production, and a focus on instinct over polish. “The mistakes are where the magic is,” Walbourne notes. The duo formed in 2020 during a run of raucous pub shows, bonding over 1950s rock ‘n’ roll and a shared need to make loud, rebellious music. Backed by careers with the Pretenders and legends like Ray Davies and Jerry Lee Lewis, they quickly evolved from a cover band into a powerhouse original act.
Recorded in just two weeks in Scotland, Bored Animal reflects their no-fuss approach: raw performances, minimal overdubs, and songs that hit hard and fast. His Lordship isn’t about retro homage—it’s about capturing the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll’s untamed heart, alive and unfiltered.
