Featuring an all-star lineup led by our 2026 Artist-in-Residence Bartholomew LaFollette, this special programme journeys through profound contrasts of expression. We begin with Brahms’s youthful Scherzo in C minor, a stormy, passionate movement from the collaborative FAE Sonata, brimming with fire and intensity. Brahms’s late Clarinet Trio in A minor, Op.114 follows—an intimate work coloured by autumnal warmth and tenderness, revealing his deep affection for the clarinet’s voice. After the interval comes Messiaen’s monumental Quartet for the End of Time, conceived in a prisoner-of-war camp in 1941. With its visionary fusion of faith, rhythm, and colour, this masterpiece invites us into a timeless world of contemplation and transcendence.
