Roman Joon will be coming to London on October 17th.
After kicking these songs around different studios across the country, Roman Joon is now preparing to release his debut album, Mighty Fine — a self-produced record mixed by James Dring (Gorillaz, Jamie T, Blur).
Crafted using manual techniques like re-recording audio and voice clips through tape machines to warp and glitch sound, the album’s rhythmic foundation leans into dreamy synths, soft electronic beats, and guitars soaked in indie-psychedelic soundscapes. Influences include Dijon, Tame Impala, Amen Dunes, Ben Howard, and Big Thief.
Behind the Roman Joon moniker is Brighton-based Michael Baker, also one half of the electronic pop duo Sock Drawer and one half of Bloody Tourist, alongside Christopher Matthewson (aka Franklin Mansion).
Michael also co-runs Talk Show Host Records — a Brighton-based label and creative collective focused on championing unique and genre-blurring independent music, serving as a home for many of the projects he’s involved with.
Presented by The Sound Sniffer.
