Toby Yapp is a London-based jazz bassist. A busy sideman, he performs and tours regularly across the UK and internationally, always bringing a solid and reliable foundation to the music. In London, he has appeared at leading venues including Ronnie Scott’s, the Jazz Café and the Vortex, while recent trips to the Netherlands have taken him to BIMHUIS and TivoliVredenburg.
With pianist Rob Dimbleby and a Roland RD-8 drum machine, Toby is launching a new project inspired by both musicians’ shared love of the sounds of the 1960s and ’70s. Their deep appreciation for the songwriters of this era leads to minimalist and funky renditions of jazz, soul, and pop tunes from a wide array of artists. Audiences can expect a groove-filled evening of classic tunes and hidden gems, presented in an inviting and intimate setting.
