Miranda Radford is a 19 year old drummer ‘up and coming’ on the London jazz scene.
Her introduction to the scene stemmed from the support from organisations such as Tomorrow’s Warriors and Julian Joseph Jazz Academy. Having studied with teachers such as Will Cleasby, Billy Hart, Steve Williamson, Sultan Stevenson and Deschanel Gordon, she has been shown the wonders and versatility of drums within the genre.
Her influences and inspirations include the works of jazz legends such as Max Roach,
Tony Williams and Jeff “Tain” Watts. Miranda has performed at venues such as Dizzy’s Jazz Club (NYC), Pizza Express, Love Supreme, The Vortex and We Out Here.
Currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Miranda is well on her way to making her mark on the London jazz scene. Her quartet includes BBC Young Jazz Musician finalist, Klara Devlin (trumpet) and fellow Trinity Laban students, Tom Sheen (double bass) and Oscar Brady (piano). Together, they explore the works of Wayne Shorter, Roy Hargrove and Miranda herself with “admirable fluency and maturity”- Ian Mann, ‘The Jazz Man’.
