Brick Lane Jazz Festival’s off-season series is back to Manchester, and we’re bringing one of the city’s finest: WERKHA. Known for his euphoric blend of analogue jazz-funk, broken beat, and UK electronic sounds, Werkha’s music is as full of heart as it is full of groove. Expect deep synths, live horns, lush strings and irresistible drums, all looped, layered and fired up into a joyous, dancefloor-ready set.
This special show celebrates the release of Werkha’s new album Unsung Irregular — an intimate yet uplifting journey inspired by his experiences of scoliosis and the healing power of movement and music. Featuring collaborations with Ríoghnach Connolly and Daudi Matsiko, the record has already been championed by Gilles Peterson, Don Letts, Nemone, Zakia and more.
From touring with Bonobo to tearing up festival stages like Glastonbury and We Out Here, Werkha has earned a reputation for turning rooms into ecstatic, sweaty, smiling crowds. On home turf, this album launch promises to be no exception.
