Over the last five years of eclectic releases and impassioned live performances, The Slingers have cemented themselves as one of the most unique and hyped bands of the Australian alternative scene. The band signed to Flightless Records in 2020 (King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard), releasing a double A-side immediately in collaboration with Melbourne icon Spike Fuck. Then 2023 saw the release of their debut LP, Sentimentalism, which peaked at #4 for ARIA’s Top Aus Albums and #5 on Top Vinyl Albums and instantly sold out of physical copies.
Across 2023 and 2024, the band completed back-to-back sold-out national tours in Australia, further cementing their following, before delivering a memorable set in heatwave conditions to thousands of punters at Golden Plains 2024. The Slingers were added to the lineup of Splendour in the Grass 2024. The band then was main support on Thelma Plum’s national ‘I’m Sorry, Now Say it Back’ tour, playing to packed auditoriums and theatres throughout Australia.
The band opened 2025 with a sold-out double headline show in Melbourne with visiting Irish artist, Susan O’Neill. In September, the band will release, ‘Payphone Man’, along with a video clip shot with London filmmaker Archie Chew. This will be the first single of their incoming sophomore album, True Believers. The launch will be celebrated with an East Coast tour in Australia, followed by the band’s first foray into the UK and Ireland.
