Description

**JAWARI**

Emerging in 2022 from London, United Kingdom, JAWARI blends Indian classical, jazz, spoken word and experimental into a genre-defying sound.

Playing in Brighton for the first time, JAWARI is a multi-disciplinary collective that navigates a diverse musical landscape, citing inspiration from a variety of genres. Led by sitarist Tommy Khosla - who has featured on BBC Asian Network, playing Glastonbury and Royal Albert Hall - other core members include Latin Grammy awardee and Aterciopelados (Europe) member Gregorio Merchán on percussion, Taylor Frost on guitar, Billie Sophoclides on saxophone and Nashville's first Youth Poet Laureate Lagnajita Mukhopadhyay on poetry and bass. Tawanda Manika will join JAWARI on guitar for their Brighton show.

Drawing on the eclectic musical and interdisciplinary backgrounds of its members with an emphasis on the Indian Classical tradition, JAWARI is cultivating a distinct identity within the global jazz scene.

**Sambambo**

A dynamic saxophonist with a voice like melting butter, Sambambo returns to the Folklore Rooms to support JAWARI's UK tour, a week before she releases her first ever mini-album.

Sambambo is a sax-player and singer-songwriter whose bouncy joy for music is infectious. Threading through her performance is a deep love for jazz and Black American Music, and she’s not afraid to be vulnerable on and offstage, talking openly about living with bipolar disorder, love in the queer community and existing alongside grief.

Presented by Vadi Records.
