Tom Fleur returns to Paper Dress Vintage to celebrate the release of his fourth EP, 'Gargoyle'.
Having cut his teeth in London guitar bands during his twenties, Tunbridge Wells songwriter Tom Fleur struck out on his own and went solo after a period of reflection during COVID. While studying a masters degree at Goldsmiths University, he wrote and recorded “The Royal Park” EP; a bittersweet collection of indie rock tracks about the highs and lows of the honeymoon period, inspired by surf rock, 60s soul and The Las.
At Goldsmiths he was encouraged to take risks and find his own style by producer/ tutor Mikko Gordon (Idles), and developed the confidence to self-produce the EP. Five other tracks from this time became the “Back from the Dead” EP, where Fleur moved into darker, more considered territory.
His arrangements became more complex, while demonstrating his love for the gloominess of Scott Walker and The Smiths. Both EPs were described by his Uni tutors as “anthemic and touching in equal measure, with cinematic and heartfelt lyrics, sprinkled with a tinge of humour.”
In the last year he has supported up and coming UK bands Home Counties and Welly; and released a third, more contemplative, 1980s-influenced, EP; 'Arctic Tundra in My Room’. He has been championed by BBC Introducing, BBC Radio London and Amazing Radio. Alongside nurturing an emerging online presence and following, Fleur finds himself in a creative groove in autumn 2025 and will be releasing his fourth EP, 'Gargoyle', supported by a London launch show at Paper Dress Vintage.
