Brighten The Corners and New Gen bring a line up of local independent artists to The Smokehouse on Wednesday 3rd December. Headlined by Sam Milne & The Tyrants with support from Mincer, Sophiethegreat, and New Gen.
New Gen is delivered in partnership with Out Loud Music CIC and Ipswich Community Media. Based weekly at The Smokehouse, the project explores and develops skills in music production, songwriting, performance and more by bringing together like-minded young people to develop their talents outside their comfort zone.
Sam Milne is a 16 year old from Ipswich, who plays original indie rock music with his backing band- the Tyrants. Sam has played venues like the Smokehouse and the Brewhouse, opened Brighten the Corners Festival 2025, and looks to grow through the music scene. His lyrics touch on the desparation of teenagers, the current state of global politics and confused romance, taking inspiration from stellar acts like Sam Fender and Fontaines D.C. From writing his first single “Window” with his best friend to selling out venues across East Anglia, the Ipswich music scene seems to grow ever stronger.
Mincer are a band that doesn’t just raise hell, they grind through it. Raised on DIY punk ethics and riotous breakdowns, Mincer don’t just make noise, they weaponise it.
World’s worst singer songwriter grows an ego and thus sophie the great is born. Indie acoustic wannabe, soup enthusiast and bunion advocate. Likes oranges, hates white lighting.
Presented by Brighten The Corners.
