Description

We are thrilled to showcase two of the most absorbing electronic acts to come out of the US underground.

SILENT EM

Silent EM, the solo project of Jean Lorenzo from NYC, has been a staple of the underground music scene since 2011. Melding Coldwave, Synthpunk, EBM, and Minimal Synth, Lorenzo has created a distinct sound that embodies raw power and stark intensity. Over the years, Silent EM has released multiple albums, each one refining this unique blend and building a dedicated following.

With his latest record, Real Life, Lorenzo takes Silent EM in a new direction. Recorded in Montreal with producer Xavier Paradis (Automelodi), this album represents a significant evolution in his sound. This release is more than just a continuation—it's a heartfelt reinvention, marking the start of an exciting new chapter.

ORTROTASCE

Nic Hamersly is the analog man who fell to earth, trapped in a digital world. But as Ortrotasce, his Dark Wave/ Hardware Electronic project, he comes off more forward-looking and sounding than a lot of modern gear-heads. Though his recorded output is ethereal and frigid, drained of human affect and defect, watching him live is an oddly visceral experience. Here you see human-machine collaboration at its most direct as Hamersly feverishly moves from machine to machine in his synth-porn array to re-create these songs live in the moment. Ortrotasce evokes synth-punk and -pop past and present, without tumbling down a nostalgia wormhole.
