Francamente is a Turin-based project that blends singer-songwriter and electronic music, having moved first to Berlin and then Milan. Queerness and activism are at the heart of its musical production.
Her studies in political philosophy, her busking, and her participation in collectives that promote a horizontal, plural, and non-competitive form of music have been crucial to her development.
Her first two songs, "Contaminazone" and "Bombe in Colombe," written and recorded in Turin, were released in 2020. Since 2021, she has been part of "Canta Fino a Dieci," a transfeminist collective aiming to bridge the gender gap in the music industry. That same year, she released "Taxi," recorded in Turin but written in Berlin, where she moved in 2022. Her years in Germany were spent researching—alongside her producer friend Tomer Levy—and making music on the streets, a way to physically occupy space (which women always lack) and an important training ground for treating art as a profession that should be accessible to everyone.
Frequenting clubs and raves led the project to become influenced by electronic music, techno, and cold wave from the 1980s and contemporary times. The decaying buildings of the GDR served as the backdrop for songs that attempted to recount the daily life of the provinces and what was considered "on the margins" because it was out of the spotlight.
