**Joseph Arthur** is an American singer-songwriter known for his poetic lyrics, emotive voice, and genre-blending mix of indie folk, alternative rock, and acoustic music. Discovered by Peter Gabriel in the mid-1990s, Arthur became the first North American artist signed to Gabriel’s Real World label and released acclaimed albums such as Big City Secrets (1997) and Come to Where I’m From (2000). Over a prolific career spanning decades, he has released numerous albums, collaborated in projects like Fistful of Mercy with Ben Harper and Dhani Harrison, and written the widely loved song “In the Sun,” later covered by artists including Michael Stipe and Chris Martin. Seeing Joseph Arthur live is a unique experience: his solo performances often use looping pedals to build layered, atmospheric arrangements in real time, creating the feeling of a full band while showcasing the raw intimacy and storytelling at the heart of his music.
