Tropical Animals Takeover

Tropical Animals is one of Florence’s longest-running club nights. Founded in 2010, the weekly Thursday party has grown with electronic music culture, becoming a reference point for international guests, local DJs, producers, and a mixed crowd of locals and visitors. Just steps from Piazza della Signoria, its intimate underground space has offered a place to share music, ideas, and community.

At its centre is founder and resident Ricardo Baez, whose background in music and fashion shaped a project built on creativity, pleasure, and connection. While styles and generations have changed, Tropical Animals has stayed defined by musical quality and a constant desire to evolve.

Over the years, the party has hosted artists such as Bradley Zero, Pender Street Steppers, Rahaan, Kevin Saunderson, Marshall Jefferson, and Chez Damier. Live performances by Caribou, Soichi Terada, and Azari & III, plus early sets from Jayda G, Avalon Emerson, and Mall Grab, helped build its reputation.

Alongside Baez, residents including Gaiden and Mystic Valley have shaped the party’s identity with forward-looking selections. In 2018, Tropical Animals expanded into a record label, launching with Whitesquare’s In Light and later releasing music by The Cyclist, Daniele Baldelli, and Ricardo Baez. From Florence, with love.
