Scattered Purgatory

Scattered Purgatory is a Taiwan-born experimental duo (f. 2013) fusing traditional motifs with psychedelic/avant-garde sound design. Their debut, The Lost Ethnography of the Miscanthus Ocean (2014, Guruguru Brain), is a touchstone of Asian psych. From2015–2019, they toured Europe and North America, earning acclaim at Canada’s New Forms Festival and the Netherlands’ Le Guess Who?.

During the pandemi,c they kept globalmomentum with digital sets for the UK’s NTS Radio and Poland’s Unsound.Their new album “Post Purgatory” is an ambitious record combining downtempo beats withdoom metal riffs, contemporary sound design and granular sampling to summon a surreal, dark tropical atmosphere.
