**About the artist**

Ezekiel Ajie, aka Zeeks, is a former boxer turned double bassist and electric bassist, now firmly established as a versatile and in-demand musician on the UK jazz scene. His work spans jazz, R&B, soul, funk, Latin and gospel, with a strong grounding in straight-ahead jazz and modern improvisation.

Zeeks is an alumni of World Heart Beat, also mentored by Julian Joseph at the Julian Joseph Jazz academy. He has performed with leading figures including Wynton Marsalis, Tony Kofi, Byron Wallen, Leon Garner, Andy Davies and Jas Kayser and is known for his solid time, clear melodic sense and adaptability across genres. Alongside club and concert work, Ezekiel has appeared on a number of notable projects, including the 2023 Manchester orchestral performance of A Story Called Black People by Gary Washington, and The Night Before (2022), a short film produced by Burberry and featuring Burna Boy.

Emerging contemporary London jazz at its best from a bassist with depth, range and a strong connection to the tradition.
