Baba Yaga's Hut Present:

Ak'chamel + Derek Monypeny at Iklectic, September 4th

Ak’chamel has built a solid reputation as a compelling stage project. Wearing nightmarish costumes and engaging in hallucinatory rituals, their singular sound comprising desert-scorched psychedelia, post-apocalyptic shamanism, and lo-fi ritual-folk is as unique as the physical theater of their live performances.

"Ak'chamel's deliberately lo-fi, murky temple music conjures not only the post-industrial rituals lusting for the pagan days of Druidic Britain but also the pantheistic, impishly playful rhythms from Thai temple music as well as some choice nods to the occult ethnomusicology of their professed influences, The Sun City Girls." -aQuarius Records

Authors of around fifteen cassettes, three vinyl LP’s, several cryptic VHS videos and their reels have generated millions of views. They tour frequently and have performed major festivals on both sides of the Atlantic garnering press from VICE, Consequence, The Wire, and many more.

Support comes from Derek Monypeny

Born in the Arizona desert, a veteran of multiple explorations into the Sahara desert via Morocco and Western Sahara, and now a resident of the Mojave, Derek Monypeny sees his musical mission as adding to and expanding on what he calls the "desert continuum;" the psychedelic sirocco swirl of desert-based stringed instruments played with utter abandon by musicians the world over.

Presented by Baba Yaga's Hut.
