Izzy Hagerup – also known as Prewn – doesn’t shy away from the ugly side of life. Her tormented indie rock is twisted like a house of mirrors and delves into “the sound of your broken, beating, dripping, heaving heart”, as she sings on “Don’t Be Scared”, in a way that is compelling, thrilling and moreish. “Ragged, tormented indie-rock”, as Pitchfork puts it; Prewn is vicious and vital – and really, really great.
