Description
Presented in London for the first time, binary-breaking artist ILĀ’s exhibition COHERE opens at Standalone on 5 June. The opening features two live works: MESONOXIAN, a performance in which ILĀ revisits a decade-old pre-transition record by painting directly onto its original artwork, and a new painting by Rovaneche created in direct response to ILĀ, the exhibition, and those gathered in the space.
Bringing together works by Jivomir Domoustchiev, AMIANGELIKA, Rovaneche, and ILĀ, COHERE moves through sound, performance, live painting, and sculptural fashion to consider identity, embodiment, memory, and transformation. Across June and July, the residency continues to evolve through workshops, recording sessions, and participatory encounters rooted in ILĀ’s practice of experimental voice and quantum computer music.
