*'Get in the car because I really wanna talk to you'* is the refrain from **Glasshouse Red Spider Mite's** "I'm Batman" that you'll carry with you for at least a week after hearing it. You'll find yourself humming it absent mindedly and constantly; it's the irresistible return of slowcore, guitar music is back. There's no trace of cliche yet it's peppered with immediately quotable and resonant lines. You'd be bitterly wronging yourself and potentially stunting your entire life by not listening to them.
**Newbuild** make guitar music feel like it's still got some life left. It's a semi-typical set up, but extended technique abounds and there's a man sequestered behind a countertop full of samplers and synthesisers, they writhe around on stage, catching and releasing. Very very exciting stuff. Classic London case of no music out and already hotly tipped for big things. They're a fixture down South, and before too long will be a fixture everywhere else.
**Thrush** are Scotland's first ever Post-Indyref band, and they would know. Instagram creators first and musicians second, Thrush have produced some of the most critically acclaimed instagram stories on the East Coast of Scotland of all time. Sweet and sensitive and weird and expansive. They shimmer, literally shimmer and shake, across stages and screens.
*Catch both bands first at Sneaky Pete's on the 14th September, supporting Glasshouse Red Spidermite.*
Presented by Independent Music Society.
