Live art platform Diasporas Now celebrates its fifth anniversary, in partnership with IKLECTIK – grassroots organisations that have championed experimental performance and music in the London art scene.
The evening will feature an improvised soundscape and movement workshop by Diasporas Now’s RIEKO and Lulu Wang, alongside a sonic lineup of experimental violinist SWARMM and cellist-sopranoist Ushara Dilrukshan, dancers Louisa Fernando and Pierre Babbage, and a DJ set by Secret Luvvr – all alongside an archival exhibition of films, prints, and memorabilia.
This event pairs experimental musicians with movement artists for improvisational performances that blend industrial club with avant-classical instrumentation. Ethereal, heavy, and sweaty, this night of equal parts participation and celebration will allow the audience to become part of the performance.
The opening sound, movement, and reiki meditation workshop, led by RIEKO and Lulu Wang, will get the audience moving on the dance floor, leading to a never-before-seen collaboration between Pierre, SWARMM, and Ushara Dilrukshan. Louisa Fernando will perform a dance piece developed specifically for this event, and the night will close with a DJ set by Secret Luvvr in total embodied catharsis.
