The Universal Rhythm Ensemble

The Universal Rhythm Ensemble are an exciting new quartet helmed by four young musicians active on the London jazz scene: Ignacio Villegas (keys), Ross Anderson (bass), Edmund Ashmore (drums), and Will Fox (percussion). Together, they create a groove-laden, rhythmically rich sound that reaches both deep within and far beyond the jazz canon, blending Afro-Latin rhythms, modern and straight-ahead jazz, fusion, funk, broken beat and even subtle Detroit techno influences into a warm, eclectic musical language. Whether performing in intimate jazz clubs or on larger festival stages, the band combines stylish feel, deep musical connection and introspective improvisation with percussive precision, creating a compelling and contemporary live experience.
