Doctor Gosso & Friends ft. Sunkissed Child, Monterey J & Jake Milliner DJ Set

On Saturday 19th April, Ninety One is excited to welcome back London based band Doctor Gosso, bringing their signature blend of jazzy chords and hip hop grooves to the stage, followed by a jam session. They will be inviting along some friends from London's thriving music scene to play alongside them including vocalist Sunkissed Child and artist / producer Monterey J - both of which will be presenting new EPs.

ABOUT DOCTOR GOSSO

Doctor Gosso & the Samplers return to Ninety One Living Room on January 11th, bringing their signature fusion of instrumental jazz and hip-hop to the heart of London. Known for their groovy, laid-back soundscapes, the duo combines classic jazz samples with smooth guitar riffs and lush synthesizers, creating a vibe perfect for music lovers seeking soulful rhythms and innovative beats. With millions of Spotify streams, their music has captured global attention, including their standout track "Buena Vista" Rooted in the vibrant Doctor Gosso Collective, the band thrives on collaboration and creativity, making their live performances a unique and interactive experience.

ABOUT SUNKISSED CHILD

Yasmina, aka, Sunkissed Child is a London-based artist originating from Lebanon. She shares pieces of herself through captivating storytelling and imposing musicianship. Through a mix of cultures, languages and genres, Yasmina takes influence from Neo-soul, R&B, Hip-Hop and UK Jazz, as well as from her Middle Eastern roots to deliver music full of emotion and energy.

ABOUT MONTEREY J

Monterey J is a musician and producer based in South London. His music fuses funk, hip-hop-flavored beats and jazz harmony to create a unique mix of grooves.

ABOUT JAKE MILLINER

Jake Milliner is a beat maker from South London. His jazzy beats are full of mellow keys, heavy drums and dusty grooves. He has teamed up with Melting Pot Music to release his debut album "Bernie Says" (10.11.19). Jake has made beats for the likes of Kofi Stone, Barney Artist and T3 (Slum Village). Jake has also played a Boiler Room set and is a regular on NTS radio. With "Bernie Says" Jake himself steps into the spotlight for the first time.

On 13 tracks Jake Milliner makes the transition from beatmaker to fully fledged artist. His boom-bap roots are still intact on “Bernie Says” but the sound spectrum relies on jazz and boogie too with lots of heavy keys – courtesy of Jake himself and who is guesting on the first single “Reminisce" alongside trumpeter Marcus Tenney. On the vocal-side Jake is joined by former Hawkhouse singer/rapper Bubblerap and long-time friend 25.

The album enjoyed radio-support from some key players on BBC 6 including Marry Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravencroft and Don Letts and has gained various plays on Worldwide FM and NTS.
