This July marks the launch of a new event series from moss.fm in collaboration with Grow, Hackney. moss.fm is a non-profit promoter championing independent sounds and accessible spaces. Each night is recorded live and released shortly after—events made to be repeated.
Opening the series is award-winning film composer, multi-instrumentalist and artist Mara Simpson, celebrating her new album Living Matter. Expect an intimate evening of ambient, folk and experimental sounds, rich with texture and depth.
Known for crafting immersive sonic landscapes, Mara blends modular synths, acoustic instruments, tape delays, breathy vocals and field recordings to create her unique sound. Living Matter weaves natural imagery and layered instrumentation into emotionally resonant compositions. Her genre-blending work has been championed on BBC Radio 6 Music and across film and TV.
Also performing is sm^sher (Imogen Mason), whose impulsive, visceral sound explores memory, grief and hope through industrial textures, fractured beats and drone-backed folk.
Rounding off the night is Louis Giannamore, a session drummer and electronic composer whose cinematic soundscapes fuse analog synths and field recordings into powerful, brooding compositions.
Presented by Grow, Hackney.
