Crywank

Self-releasing eight albums in sixteen years and touring relentlessly around the world, Crywank have built a reputation for scrappy lo-fi recordings and chaotic, genre-bending live shows. Crywank was formed by songwriter Jay Clayton in 2009, on the same day they first picked up a guitar. Even though they did not yet know how to play or record their early music properly, it gained far more attention online than expected and soon became a serious musical endeavour. Eventually joined by percussionist Dan Watson (Bombstrap, Denim & Leather, ex-Gnod) and bass player Jules Noel (Guard Petal, ex-Chastity), Crywank moved from simple outsider-folk to more complex and bizarre compositions, while maintaining a commitment to exploring sadness in an often blunt and humorous way.
